NHRA announces 2005 national event dates for The Strip at LVMS;
Spring race is later, autumn event earlier
For the fifth consecutive year, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host two NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series events in 2005. The 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule, released today, contained some minor changes from the traditional NHRA dates at LVMS.
The NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals will move to April 14-17 in 2005. All past spring events have been held the first weekend in April. Next year¿s NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals will take place on Oct. 20-23. This season¿s event is scheduled for Oct. 28-31.

Tickets for the Oct. 28-31, 2004 NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals are on sale and may be purchased by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444 or online at www.lvms.com. Tickets for the 2005 events will go on sale later this fall.

2005 NHRA preseason testing
The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway again will host preseason testing dates prior to the start of the 2005 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season. The fourth annual Nitro Blast-Off will be held January 28-30 at The Strip at LVMS. The Strip also has added a second weekend of testing, February 4-6, to allow race teams a final opportunity to prepare for NHRA¿s season-opening event in

The first weekend of testing will be open only to racers competing in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Lucas Oil Sportsman Series and Summit Sport Compact Series. The session will be highlighted by four scheduled rounds of Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car testing per day, as well as the debut of the Southern California Top Comp Association. The second weekend of testing will be open to all NHRA professional and sportsman categories as well as participants from the Goodguys Vintage Racing Association, All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) and other touring programs. In addition, the second testing weekend will feature a cash bonus for the top speeds posted by Alcohol Dragster and Alcohol Funny Car competitors.
"Providing the professional teams with two weekends of testing will save on travel costs as they will be able to complete three full days of testing, service their cars in our pit area during the week and prepare for three more days of testing the following weekend,¿ Blair explained.
